Question 1 of the Westminster Shorter Catechism asks the following question: What is the chief end of man? Answer: Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever. Question 2 then follows: What rule has God given to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him? And the answer: The Word of God, which is contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, is the only rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him.
As a church community, we do lot’s of things together. We worship, we pray, we serve, we eat, we celebrate, we mourn, we play… But arguably one of the most important things we do together as a community is that we open up the Word of God and allow the Spirit of God to speak, to challenge, to stretch and to transform us more into the likeness of Jesus.
Towards this end, we would like to encourage the members and regular visitors of Bluff Park Community Church to spend more time in engaging personally with the Scriptures in 2017. For many Christians this is actually one of the top “New Years Resolutions” around the start of any new year.
So we’ve decided to make it easy for you. We have purchased a copy of the Community Bible Reading Journal for all adult members and regular attenders of BPCC. If you would like to spend more time in God’s Word with us over this next year, simply stop by our welcome table at any point before or after worship over the next few of Sundays and ask for your copy!
We look forward to seeing how God will use our regular time in His Word to transform our hearts and our community in the year to come.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
