Have You Found What You Are Looking For?

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.” Psalm 62:5

“I will be fulfilled if only I can achieve / accomplish / acquire ________.”

So what fills in that blank for you? What is it that you are chasing after today? Is it significance, financial reward, an increased influence or reputation? Perhaps it is the approval (or even the affections) of others, maybe a spouse, a parent, an employer, or a valued mentor. Maybe you simply want to make it through the day without the wheels completely falling off the crazy train.

Whatever “it” is that you are looking for, “it” is not big enough to fill the void left by that blank space. “It” can only disappoint. And not only that, “it” was never designed to carry the weight of those types of expectations. Over time, under the crushing load, not only will “it” disappoint, “it” will also be destroyed.

Ultimately there is only One who is sufficient and worthy to fill that void. The Lord, Jesus Christ is our only sufficient source of whatever the “it” is that we are looking for. Will you look to Him?

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (U2)

I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run, I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her finger tips
It burned like fire
(I was)
Burning desire

I spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for

I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But, yes, I’m still running

You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross of my shame
Oh, my shame, you know I believe it

But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found
What I’m looking for
